This summer we arranged for a group of our Mega kids along with their parents/carers to experience the talents of two of the best chef’s in London. We met at Mega Mentor Phil Howard’s 2 Michelin starred restaurant, The Square, for inspiration, a chance to try some amazing food and the opportunity to get hands on and learn some new skills!

With help from another of our Mega chef’s, Brett Graham, Phil and a team of chef’s from The Square tutored groups of children in making bead, pasta, icecream and weird and wondeful types of jelly! Donned in their specially made Mega Mentors aprons, the children got stuck in and created their own food that they then got to eat as part of their lunch later in the day.

The event saw chef Phil Howard put on the spot during a special challenge where he was presented with a list of ingredients hated by the children (cabbage was top of the list!), and then had to present the children with tasty dishes contaning these ingredients in an attempt to convert their taste buds!

The day ended on a high, with lunch served to us all by the chef’s, and an invitation from Phil for the children to visit any time. The children and their parents/carers had a fantastic time and the overwhelming response was that our event was ‘excellent’, and definately a day to remember for a very long time. Thanks to Phil, Brett & all at The Square for a fabulous day!
