Mini Mega’s is launched!

We have recently launched Mini Mega’s, the work experience arm of Mega Mentors. We thought that giving kids the opportunity to do their official school work experience with their Mega Mentor would be of massive benefit to them…and we were right!
Recently one of the children on our project, Oliver, enjoyed a weeks work experience with his Mega Mentor Mike Farish. All of the children referred to us have ‘barriers to success’ in their lives that can potentially stop them from both identifying and making the most of their talents. Oliver is no exception to this and has often been labelled in his life in ways that add to these barriers. We had a hunch that if we take these kids and plunge them into professional environments where it is assumed that they can achieve, that they will do just that! Oliver’s Mentor Mike Farish of Design Motive had this to say about a boy, who by many, has been written off:
‘I was so impressed with his whole attitude, focus and ability. He is a bright, confident and talented young man and a joy to have around. He has always been sensitive to his surroundings and has enjoyed interacting with everyone here in the studio. I hope this week becomes an inspiration for Oli for the future. Oliver has used the week to great effect too. Having researched, designed and developed a brand identity for his hat company. He has prepared mood boards, the background story, two logos and applied the design to a website, label, truck livery and business card. Bare in mind that Oliver has done everything himself including learning how to use Adobe Illustrator on the Apple Mac which is a pro piece of software. The only thing he had help on, in addition to just guidance, was building the website.’
Mike also sent Oliver home at the end of the week with an Apple Workstation, plus software, so that he could continue the project that he had started while at design Motive! A cracking start to the Mini Mega’s program, and we are confident that this story will be repeated again and again as other children get to experience these amazing opportunities!
Thanks to all at Design Motive
